so, at last month’s rose bowl flea market, i made one purchase: an american flag pin. i don’t really wear pins, and my fridge needed some sprucing up, so last weekend, i walked to my local blicks (YES, the same one lindsay lohan visited the other day), picked up some magnets and superglue, and voila:
american flag magnet!

the project was wayy easier than expected, because the magnets stuck to the back of the (metal) pin without glue or anything.
i still had some magnets left, and lots of superglue, so i made a few more…
glow in the dark star magnet:

nametag magnet:

(the nametag was a craft project from the sorority days, and the magnets are “hidden” behind the rhinestones)
and, possibly the most inspired, the hand grenade magnet:

(a souvenir from my mardi gras trip to new orleans, and one of the city’s better-known cocktails— check out the bar’s website for a fine tribute in the form of song and video.)
more crafting soon!

i realized that when i posted this photo…

…i never introduced the superfun addition to the wall. they’re re-stickable wall decal photo frames, from photojojo. and i love them.
in fact, i love them so much that they’re up in my apartment, AND my office (office first)!
here they are after i first put them up in my office:

(disclaimer: my office doesn’t actually look that… sad)
here they are today, after i (finally!) put some stuff in them:

i’m in LOVE with the postcards in the frames. they’re from a set my (wonderful!) brother got me for christmas.
would it make me a total dork if i used the typewriter as my computer background?

hopefully not, because i’m already using the phone as my (you guessed it) phone background…

so meta!
so, a couple weeks ago, i stopped by this place, rehab vintage interiors, while on a walk in my new hood. considering the name of the store, and the fact that their website says they carry “unique vintage… accessories for the home and office”, i guess i kind of assumed the clock i bought was at least semi- unique and/or vintage.

um. but i guess i proved that when i assume, i make an “ass” out of “u” and “me”. apartment therapy (yes i know i’ve been obsessed with them lately) included the SAME CLOCK in an article today. turns out it’s available at target.

…should i, like, go to the store and tell them i’m onto them? are they even technically tricking people? iiiii’m sooooo confuuuuused.
not sure what exactly it is—the tiny tray, the lucite lamp, the wise-looking suitcase— but i love this bedside table so much.
unfortunately, i’d have to move far away from california to even consider creating something like it. thanks to my current proximity to some (very active!) fault lines, the flowers would be ground into the rug under the broken lamp and vases before you could say “what a wise-looking suitcase”.
…wonder if there’s a happy medium?

serious lack of blogging lately— but i guess that’s my prerogative (you’re welcome for getting that britney spears song stuck in your head). i’ve just been soo overwhelmed with my own creativity that i haven’t known how to start blogging about everything (…heh.). am starting with this post, which will serve as a long-overdue thank you note.
remember when my mom called, asking for my blog address, so she could show her friends my apartment’s color scheme? well, it’s because she and her friends are AMAZING and wanted to buy me PRESENTS!
mrs. c and mrs. h saw that picture of my orange cubes and turquoise table, and didn’t think my feet fit in the color scheme, so they sent me the BEST SOCKS EVER:

literally could not be more perfect. thanks, mrs. c and mrs. h!
my mom found me this adorable tray, but i had nowhere to display it, so i took the desk out of my room and made it into a (temporary-ish) entry table, which has seriously improved my quality of life so much. voila:

…and here’s the tray, doing its job:

thanks, mom!

today my mom called, asking for my blog address, so she could show her friends my apartment’s color scheme. (yep, that’s my life.) thought she should have the most updated version. voila.
ps: “fawn brindle”? ha.
